There are a multitude of styles using solid wood flooring with no end to the possibilities.  Sure to suit the preferences of any homeowner, it is simply a matter of determining what will fit the decor of a home and complement its furnishings and wall decorations in order to create a particular atmosphere.  For those who prefer rustic or antique styles with solid wood flooring, custom flooring can create a wonderful look.  Shiplap and square edges as well as tongue and groove have a unique style as the boards are notched and lined up together in a perfect fit.  Reclaimed flooring is another way to truly personalize flooring by using wood planks that were used for another purpose, such as a gymnasium floor or bleachers, having them sanded and stained, and refinishing them.  They can truly give a room a character all its own, using planks that are much thicker than the usual choices. Old growth flooring involves harvesting wood from Europe taken from trees that are centuries old in age for an old-fashioned and distinct appearance.  Hand sanded flooring and wire brushed flooring change the texture of the flooring and bring back images of days of yesteryear. 

Architect FlooringWide plank flooring also has broad boards that give a home the feeling of cabins of old.For a more contemporary style in wooden flooring, surface ply 3 and surface ply 5 is versatile with the possibility of patterns as well.  With surface ply, wood flooring of various consistencies and appearance can be laid in thin layers over an existing floor.  Parquet flooring is generally small wooden tiles that are placed in different patterns such as squares or diamonds with each tile turned in a different direction to create an appealing contrast.  Tiles can also be laid in a diagonal fashion or form an image such as a flower or sunburst.  Often, designers choose to use tiles of various shades to make the flooring truly pop.  Tiles or planks of wood can also be laid in geometric patterns or to simulate the image of a checkerboard with tiles in alternating shades.  Medallion flooring is another attractive choice in which floor patterns are modeled after the style of various medallion coins and necklaces to draw the eye and enhance a room.  Environmental-green styles are a good choice as well with wood that has been treated with natural products that are non-toxic for all.
